Welcome, I’m Melissa Fishell LMFT, ATR

Melissa Fishell is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a registered Art Therapist. With over seven years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and adults. She has primarily supported those struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, loss and grief, stress from life transitions, and eating disorders. Melissa is experienced in providing individual and family therapy.
My approach is focused on allowing you to be the expert in your life. As your therapist I believe in walking alongside you providing strategies and tools to help you discover and rediscover the skills within you that will aid in your healing and growth. Applying the frameworks of acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and person-centered therapy invites collaboration, creativity, humor and often practices outside the therapy room to support you reaching your goals.

Work Experience:

My training and education as an Art Therapist lends us an additional lens to work from. My approach offers a gentle and practical way to allow one to step comfortably into what may initially feel like unfamiliar waters. Applying a creative lens in therapy can help us find ways to increase insight into our lives, build self-awareness and self-esteem, process hurt and trauma, learn new coping skills, and even allow us to find the words to something that has been difficult to articulate through traditional talk therapy. One does not need to have any previous creative experience to benefit from art therapy, just coming with an open mind will be enough.

About Me:

As a wife, and first time mother of a vibrant almost two year-old, two dogs and two cats, I can understand the importance of creating a space to reconnect with oneself. Some of my personal favorite pastimes are exploring the beauty of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, taking small walks with my family and enjoying the comforts of doing nothing by a warm fire. HOPE is the word that best defines what motivates me in my personal and professional life. If one is unable to find their hope, I will hold hope for them.
