Individual Therapist

I am so happy that you have taken the time to find out more about The Counseling Place and how I might be able to personally help you on your journey. Sometimes we feel unprepared to deal with life’s challenges. We might need someone to offer a careful ear and a little help working through our situations and relationships. I am ready to listen without judgment and will offer guidance and refuge for those in pain. Personal growth can be a challenge, but it is one worth taking. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family in Parker, CO. I like to ski, hike, camp, and spend as much time as possible in the mountains. I played competitive softball for nearly 20 years, so I have a love for sports of any kind. I am an avid football fan in particular!

I use a client-centered, solution focused approach to therapy. I believe that no matter what the circumstance, every client has strengths to draw from and may just need a little help identifying what they are. I predominantly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and EMDR to meet the needs of my clients. However, I believe each client is unique and make every effort to develop an individualized therapy plan that works best for the client.

Work Experience

Prior to entering into private practice, Jayne was introduced to two areas of practice that she feels quite passionate about – addiction and trauma. During her first internship in graduate school, she worked in Denver with those struggling with addiction at The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. It is here that she learned the impact that the disease of addiction has on the entire family system. Her second internship at the Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center in Castle Rock (now known as the Crisis Center) introduced her to another passion – working with victims of domestic violence and those suffering from childhood trauma.

Following graduate school, Jayne worked for AspenPointe Mental Health Services in Colorado Springs, where she worked at the El Paso County Department of Human Services, offering mental health treatment to a predominantly indigent population. She also worked closely with the nurses at the El Paso County Health Department, acting as a mental health consultant and educating pregnant women on the warning signs of post-partum depression.

Following AspenPointe, Jayne worked for two years as a counselor and educator at Parker Valley Hope, a local residential substance abuse treatment facility. Many of the patients from Parker Valley Hope continue their recovery work and see Jayne in a private practice setting.
