Welcome, I’m Mike Garrison, MA, LPCC

Hello and welcome! Every person needs a place where they can make sense of their life, sort through challenges, and chart a course for their future. Counseling provides exactly that kind of place. By talking and processing together in a therapy-based environment, we will work collaboratively to help you feel better and to thrive.

  • Are feeling down on life or ‘stretched too thin’ emotionally?
  • Are you exhausted from a difficult relationship?
  • Or perhaps you’re unsure of how to manage a hard life transition?

These are all examples of situations my clients work through in counseling.

Work Experience

I graduated from Regis University in Denver with master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During the internship phase of grad school, I worked with many different types of individuals of all ages, and each facing unique challenges. I quickly found that I was passionate about helping clients maximize potential, break away from learned helplessness, and to find their authentic voice. As a therapist, I draw from a wide field of theories such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I like to work with whatever methodology is best suited to help you feel better and make progress in your life. Therapeutic techniques all share the common innate belief that life can and should be better. That’s a great place for us start together.

I’ve been a resident of the Denver area for nearly 20 years. Prior, I grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism before embarking on a two-decade long career in marketing. I have worked in the Fortune 500 arena as an investment wholesaler. I also spent eight years as the owner of my own publishing business. These rich experiences provide me with many hard-earned insights, grounded in the real world, that I now use to help my clients.

I moved to Colorado because I love the outdoors. Hiking, biking, and camping are all activities that I look forward to each year in the warmer months. I also enjoy live music, love to travel, and read (mostly non-fiction) voraciously.
